Our beloved Con lives on | Northern Rivers Conservatorium

Our hearts continue to be with our treasured Northern Rivers community as all our energies are focused on recovery and rebuild following the floods of February and March.

We are currently planning a flood resilient refit of our beautiful heritage building in the heart of the Lismore CBD.  The teaching studios are the first item of this project and we are aiming to be back to making music in downtown Lismore from the start of Term 3 on 17 July.  We’ll keep you posted on the works as they progress.

In the meantime, our Community Music programs are being delivered in our temporary digs at Southern Cross University D-Block.  A big thanks to our friends at Southern Cross for opening their doors to our students and teachers.

In amongst the trials there have been some truly wonderful experiences and happenings.  The Resound our Towns project in partnership with Resound has been a huge success.  The instrument drop-in day held at the Department of Education Arts Unit in Sydney yielded donations of 250 instruments in just 4 hours!  Rachel and Tim from Resound visited Lismore on 14th April to make the first round of deliveries of musical instruments.  Resound will be back in the area in the next few weeks.  If you would like to request an instrument, pledge an instrument or make a tax-deductible cash donation, please visit resound.org.au

In very exciting news, our wonderful Tilly Jones has been named as the recipient of the
2022 ADFAS Byron Bay Scholarship. The Australian Decorative and Fine Arts Society (ADFAS) Byron Bay & Districts Young Musician Award recognises the achievements of a young local musician.  Tilly’s original work will be performed at the 2022 Bangalow Music Festival!!  Congratulations to Tilly.  For more information about the 2022 Bangalow Music Festival, please visit their website.

Wishing you and your loved ones a lovely Easter and School Holiday break.
