The Northern Rivers Conservatorium is thrilled to announce it will host Australia’s premier vocal ensemble, ‘The Idea of North’ in Lismore over two days in March.

The Conservatorium is bringing the ensemble to Lismore in partnership with the Department of Education’s Arts Unit, to conduct professional development sessions for choral directors and school teachers on the Far North Coast. In addition, the general public can take advantage of an open singing workshop, and a candlelight evening concert with the ARIA winning performers.

‘The Idea of North are a stunning vocal ensemble, and fortunately for us, their education program has also become an integral part of their repertoire. The workshops are an incredible opportunity for regional teachers, choral directors, community choirs, and individuals, to receive hands-on experience with four of the best voices in Australia,’

‘Although, if you do keep your singing in the shower, you might prefer to soak up the magic of the evening concert, where we’ll be awash in the sounds of soaring ballads in St Andrew’s Anglican Church’, Ms Bellman said.

Participants in the public singing workshop will learn the art of live performance with The Idea of North, covering techniques in four-part harmony singing, stagecraft, and sharing all the tricks they’ve learnt to become a world-class act. This workshop is suitable for all ages and abilities and will take place on Saturday 5 March, 10.00am – 11.30am at the NRC, corner Keen and Magellan Streets, Lismore. Cost: Adult $25.00 / Concession $15.00. Bookings through Sticky Tickets

The Idea of North will perform ‘Ballads by Candlelight’, Saturday 5 March, 7.30pm – 9.00pm, in St Andrew’s Cathedral, 10 Zadoc St, Lismore. Cost: Adult $39.50 / Concession $32.50 / Child $25.50 / Family (2 adults + 2 children) $114.50 / Groups 6 + $180.00. Suitable for all ages. Bookings through Sticky Tickets

The Professional Development Day is an accredited course for teachers and choral directors on Friday 4 March, 12.00pm – 5.30pm, at the NRC.
