Northern Rivers Conservatorium Call for Participants

Inaugural “Iron Creative”

Do you have a talent or creative spirit?

Can you let your imagination flow?

Are you up for a challenge and a stack of fun?

We’re looking for people to take part in a brand new initiative to develop original works in a ‘pressure-cooker’ environment.

WHO: Musicians, artists, dancers, performers – anyone, from high-school age and above, with an interest in creative expression.

WHAT: Work in teams of 6-8 people to create a 5-8 minute performance work…. from scratch.

Taking inspiration from the popular TV show Iron Chef, teams will be assigned “ingredients” for their work (e.g. kazoo, paint tin drums, voices, marimba, dance and an “ingredient” of their choice) and a musical element to incorporate (e.g. a rhythm, a chord sequence or several musical notes).

The work can incorporate: composition, performance, movement, film, etc., and will be created using ingenuity, originality, innovation, teamwork and artistry. Mentors will guide the process.

Each team create and rehearse their original work which will be performed on the Heartbeats Festival Stage at the Lismore Lantern Parade on Saturday 19th June.

Mentors will run workshops on how to successfully collaborate in the “Iron Creative”.

The Iron Creative is FREE for all participants. Unleash your creativity!

Applications: Applications now open. Places will be assigned on a ‘first come first served’ basis. Applications close on Wednesday 5th May or as soon as all positions have been filled.
