Lismore has experienced one of the biggest floods in many years with water over topping the levee and spilling into the CBD.

The Conservatorium had over 1.5 metres of water through its ground floor and we are currently waiting on the “all clear” to be able to enter the building to begin the rather large task of cleaning our grand old lady.

A great team of staff, teachers, board members and friends worked very quickly on Thursday afternoon to lift all our valuables to the first floor which was well above the level of this flood.  Because of this, we are fortunate to not have lost any valuable equipment.

COMMUNITY MUSIC LESSONS  – WEEK 10 CANCELLED

Please note that in Week 10 there will be NO ON SITE MUSIC TUITION as we will be prioritising clean up and safety to personnel.  Your teachers will be able to provide a make-up lesson during term 2 – you will be able to make these arrangements at the beginning of next term.

MUSIC IN SCHOOLS LESSONS – WEEK 10 – TO PROCEED AS SCHEDULED

All scheduled Music in Schools lessons will proceed providing the school is open and the teacher is not cut off by flood waters.  If your teacher is unable to give your Music in Schools lesson, they will make direct contact with the school.

CLEAN UP – MANY HANDS…

As soon as we are given the all clear to re-enter our building, we will be holding working bees all week to give our grand old lady the TLC she needs to recover from the impact of the flood waters.  If you are able to spare a couple of hours, please contact me directly on anita.bellman@nrcac.edu.au

COMMUNICATIONS

Until we are back in the building, there will be no staff to answer telephone calls or emails.  Updates will be posted on our Facebook page.

The entire CBD, North and South Lismore have been severely impacted by this recent flood event and our thoughts and best wishes go out to those in our community doing it hard at this time.
