The Northern Rivers Conservatorium is proud to present Paul Grabowsky and Lior in Concert at the Lismore City Hall on Thursday 31stMay.

This must-see performance is a collaboration of two of Australia’s most respected artists who will be reinventing some of Lior’s most cherished song as well as bringing their own individual voices to this special show.

Lior is one of Australia’s most successful singer-songwriters, renowned for his beautiful voice and songs that radiate truth and sincerity.  He burst on to the Australian music scene in 2005 with his stunning debut album – ‘Autumn Flow’ – which became one of the most successful independent releases in Australian history.  His collaboration with composer Nigel Westlake won best classical album at the 2014 ARIA awards.  Lior has since released a further four albums to wide critical acclaim.

Paul Grabowsky is an acclaimed composer, pianist and polymath who has received numerous awards in his illustrious 40-year career including ARIAs and an Order of Australia. He has been a director of some of Australia’s most prominent arts festivals, the composer of nearly thirty feature film scores, an executive at the ABC, the founder and leader of the Australian Art Orchestra and currently heads the Academy of Performing Arts at Monash University.

Executive Director of the Northern Rivers Conservatorium says “We’re really excited to welcome Paul back to Lismore for the third time following two very beautiful experiences with him has a performer, artist in residence and an educator. To be able to bring this incredibly special collaboration with Lior to Lismore is really a musical dream come true”.

Paul has a history of working with vocalists including Katie Noonan, Vince Jones and Kate Ceberano.  Lior’s music is very much focussed around the guitar and the adaptation to piano makes for some truly exquisite reinterpretations.

Lior says of the collaboration “Paul is such a versatile and broad musician, and being a jazz musician, working with him is very fluid – new things always arise during the performance”.

While in Lismore, Lior and Paul will also work with students from Southern Cross University and the Northern Rivers Conservatorium through Southern Cross University’s APRA AMCOS Songwriting Masterclass series.
